Why ev.energy Uses Default Rates for Eversource

Overview

You may notice that the electricity price displayed in the ev.energy app differs from the rate on your monthly Eversource statement. It is important to understand that the app is not a billing tool, and the price shown does not reflect your actual utility charges.

What is the "App Price"?

Think of the price in the app as a "logic setting" rather than a financial statement. Its primary purpose is to help the software identify when electricity demand is low.

  • The Goal: The app uses this default rate to automatically schedule your EV to charge during the most cost-effective and grid-friendly windows.

  • The Reality: This rate is a general baseline. It does not track your specific local taxes, regional levies, or personalized utility pricing tiers.

The "Source of Truth"

Your official Eversource bill remains the only accurate record of what you owe for your energy consumption.

The ev.energy app does not communicate with your utility’s billing department or influence your monthly electricity bill.

Impact on Your Incentives

The price shown in the app has zero impact on your monthly incentives or monthly bill.

Whether you are on the Baseline or Advanced Tier, your rewards ($10) are calculated based on your charging timing and behavior, not the estimated cost displayed on the dashboard.
